Excellence May Begin After the First Step

How does a person escape the “sea of mediocrity” and live in the “sea of greatness?” Transformations are not usually accomplished over night. For someone who may struggle with the feeling that life has served them a “platter of average outcomes,” excellence and exceptional accomplishments may seem out of reach. Perry Paxton said:
“Excellence is in the details. Give attention to the details and excellence will come.”
Many of my coaching clients are trapped in the quagmire of low expectations and tiny personal goals. Excellence is achieved one small step at a time. The first step is the hardest and the emotional inertia needed to start a transformation personally, is many times overwhelming. Still, it is time to start. The starting will feed the emotion to move on to the accomplishment. Like a pendulum, the decision to begin a step toward personal excellence will provide the energy to continue the journey. Oh, of course, a coach or accountability partner may be enlisted to get the sustainability needed for a long-term breakthrough. Are you setting your goals? Are you trapped in a state of mediocrity? Could you be poised for a major “tipping point” personally? Let it be today!!
